Resin Dreams Holiday Party - December 11, 2011

Dinner 5:30-7:00pm
The Landmark Grill has some fantastic food at great prices (entrees are $6.99 or less). You can take a look at their menu here.
Since the Landmark Grill isn't charging us for the use of the party room, it would be nice if everybody ordered something, even if it's an appetizer or a dessert.

Gift Exchange and Photo Ops 7:00-8:30pm

Please don't feel obligated to participate in the gift exchange, after all, the holidays are really about spending time with friends and family!

If you'd like to join in, please bring an exchange gift with a value of around $10. We know that funds may be low at this time of year, so please contact Kyrena if you need help with a gift.

Hope to see everyone there - holiday finery encouraged!!!

December 2011 Meetups

Lovely Stitches
Sunday, December 4, 2 to 4 p.m.
Valley Ranch Library
401 Cimarron Trail
Irving, Texas 75063-4680
(972) 721-4669

Learn to make easy doll clothing and accessories using crochet and beading techniques. Supplies will be provided. Bring your doll to help ensure proper size and fit.

Lovely Stitches is for participants age 10 years and older. All levels of experience are welcome.

KellyinDallas is helping organize volunteers. We will need teachers for beginner, basic, intermediate and advanced skill activities.

There will be 4 stations for crochet (2 tables each):
beginner crochet = technique instruction and chaining to create a scarf
basic crochet = single crochet bag in rounds w/chain drawstring
intermediate crochet = simple hat in rows using double crochet with slip stitch joining and chained first dc
advanced crochet = simple blanket in rows using double crochet, turning chains and single crochet + chain ruffle border

2 stations for beading:
pony beads on yarn necklaces for little kids (lol - last time this is where the 2 dads hung out)
simple beading projects using seed beads, decorative beads with elastic cord and other findings (last time we had 3 tables and can do 1 project at each table w/a teacher per table)

If we can find an instructor for knitting, we have space to add more stations. I've tried contacting a few groups in the area and am having zero luck w/a knitting instructor.

I've been putting out examples of work on a table w/various instruction sheets.

Everyone is welcome, even if you wish to sit and visit and free work vs leading an activity. The girls who come love to watch people work and ask questions.

I have a ton of supplies and tools. Stephanie bought plastic crochet hooks last time and will buy us more if needed. Donations are always welcome if anyone needs to clean out their craft rooms.

There is a cafe in the building w/the library. Java Me Up has wonderful drinks and deli type food. We are allowed to have food in the program room. I set-up a table in the back for people to sit and eat to help protect dolls and projects.

Work, Swap and Be Merry!

At KellyInDallas' home

Friday, December 16, 2011

7:00pm until 12:30am

Swap or sell items, get a helping hand with restringing, and finish that outfit you've been meaning to get to. We'll have the doll tree up for photos, tables for painting, sewing and restringing and a bald cat to get in the middle of it all!

Since it's the holiday season... and calories don't count until January 2nd let's have a dessert buffet - bring a favorite treat to share and we'll do some sugar-fueled bargaining and crafting. We have a lot of allergies in play, so please bring a card listing ingredients so we don't have a field trip to the emergency room. This is a tough one during the holidays, but our house is tree-nut free, so please don't bring anything with walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts etc.(peanuts are okay) We also have gluten allergies, edible-skin fruit allergies and a cucumber/pickle allergy. If there are any other dietary issues, please let everyone know.

Hope to see everyone there!

Afternoon Tea - Holiday finery encouraged
Chocolate Angel
4709 W. Parker Rd, Plano, TX 75093
(NE corner of Preston and Parker behind Jason's Deli in Preston Parker Crossing shopping center)
Date: Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011
Time: 2:00 p.m.
Price: $18.99 pp (includes tax & gratuity)

Please note this is the new Plano location, not the original cafe in Richardson. Reservation is for eight (8) people, but I can certainly increase the number if need be, so please RSVP. You can't make a reservation for fewer than eight though, which is why I picked that number. They're OK with dolls, but I don't know if we'll be able to grab a spare table just for them. We'll wing it. GPS hasn't caught up to the exact address yet, but it will get you to the shopping center.

Come on over for some Halloween fun with your favorite dollies - and people, too.

Please RSVP here:

and then head over to here to sign up for a dish to pass at the potluck:"

Bring any dolly items you'd like to re-home and we'll have a little swap/sell meet in lieu of bobbing for apples! ('Course if you like sticking your head in tubs of freezing water, it can certainly be arranged.)

We'll also have mini pumpkin decorating, a popular-vote costume contest, and a SD/MSD Halloween photo area. Your tinies can have their pictures taken in Abbey's haunted dollhouse!

Our home is non-smoking but we do have an old dog who looks big and scary but is blind in one eye, deaf in one ear, crippled in one leg and a total sweetheart. We also have a hairless cat who is freaky-looking and may want to sit on your shoulder like a parrot. Neither of them messes with dollies.[/QUOTE]
